Karmic Hit - Previews & Rarities vol 3 - Special Collectors Edition!

Here it is - the definitive track listing for KH Previews and Rarities Vol 3...

1. Steve Kilbey - The Australian Night

Every Wednesday night, pretty much, SK comes over to the Illustrious KH Studios for some recording. This song was written for a up-and-coming pop star whom probably never even got to hear this track. Their loss. Well, our loss too, truth be told - their record just sold a million copies! Whatever, I love this song- I think one day it will be raised from the ashes and, who knows, may even be a hit!

2. John Kilbey - Rumi Says

From my next album Rozam Kobar - which I have been rushing to finish for the last two years at least! I am happy to report I am nearly there. As you can hear, it has an Indian theme, using lots of traditional Indian instruments. I am really happy with this track - inspired by a Rumi card. Do a Google on Rumi if you don't know who he was... this is a rough mix of the song but should give you a fair idea.

3. Russell Kilbey - Tara

I thought it would be reasonably interesting to have the Good Ol' Kilbey boys side by side on this cd, so you can hear the similarities and differences in our voices. To be fair, or chronological at least, Russell should have been second! But he's not. Anyways, I love this song! I have been hounding Russell to do a vocal, solo type of album and this song gives a taste of what it could sound like. It's pop, with a depth you can feel. This is a demo for how the "real" version may go. I like it just the way it is! Finish the album for God's sake Russell!

4. Beangrowers - Waiting

A man from Malta, let's call him Jean Zammitt, sent me a cd from this band called Beangrowers. I played it and I liked it. Then over the next weeks I found myself playing it again and again. Each time it began to dawn on me - these guys are absolutely brilliant. They sound like someone familiar but I can't put my finger on whom. It's mature, got great production, an amazing voice - a class act. The whole album is wonderful. And they're from Malta! Who'd have thunk it! In my opinion they should be huge and if I get my way, they will be! This track is actually from Dance Dance Baby, so it isn't really a preview or a rarity. So sue me.

5. Halogen - Innocent

Talking of bands being huge - Halogen. Their new recordings are the business. They've learned a lot in the last few years and I love them! This song, a bona fide unreleased rarity, makes me cry. Really. Every time Jas gets to the bit about "I'm innocent...." I don't really know why - the music just sounds so sad - it's a great example, for me at least, of how music can move you in inexplicable ways. I think Halogen will one day be recognised as one of Australia's greatest bands.

6. Pugwash - Weaker Man

OK -so everyone on this cd should be huge! Let's take it as a given! But really, Pugwash - anyone who has heard their new album Jollity can't help but love it. If it was any fuller it would explode. I can't believe so few people have bought a copy of it! I can't believe they aren't massive! This track is actually from their first album - Almond Tea - but KH didn't release that so there you go... Pugwash are a hit waiting to happen.

Karmic Hit - Previews & Rarities vol 3

Dear Listener,

We hope that finding an extra cd in your recent order is as exciting for you to get as it was for us to give.

Karmic Hit wouldn't survive without the dedicated fan base support which we have - from people like you!

That's the idea behind this cd - we wanted to give something to you which would show our appreciation and make you feel a bit special. It's good karma after all...

I beleive, Karmic Hit is releasing some of the best music currently being made in the World. It's special music, filled with the love and care of the musicians that are in control of making it. With a little piece of their soul embedded into the plastic, if you will. Music on this cd - as you will hear - reflects the diversity of artists brought together by a common love and belief in the intrinsic worth and value of music - as an important emotional, spiritual, human nourishment.

Wow - and you thought it was just something to put on while you made the bed... maybe it's that too.

Sorry to come over all deep and meaningful about an artform generally considered next to bubblegum on the list of artistic acheivements but I know that everyone on this cd is reaching out for something else, trying to make sense of something - life, if you will, and music is the medium they are using to explore that.

Sometimes I wish I was someone else, stumbling onto Karmic Hit, knowing nothing about it and finding this little pocket of just the sort of music I like. Music with soul.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy Previews & Rarities vol 3 - and I hope you get as much out of Karmic Hit as we put in... for therein lies the fun!

Until next time,

Making Personal the Impersonal,

JLK.
