JOLLITY
is year's best album - BY JOVE!
It
is beyond our hiding - we absolutely love Pugwash's new
album! But why should we hide it? We want the whole world
to sit up and take notice of this incredible cd!
The
follow up to the brilliant Earworm - Pugwash produce the
singular, focussed and joyous record which we knew they
were capable of. With strings arranged by Dave Gregory from
XTC, a co-write with Andy Partridge from the same and guest
appearances from legendary Eric Matthews - Pugwash have
called in the big guns to help them manifest their vision
of a perfect-pop disc!
They
have created an album which far outweighs the sum of its
influences - it is one of the joys of listening - to spot
the instrumentation, production or chord inversion from
primo pop hits of yesteryear but this work all belongs to
the Pugs.
Albums
like this come along far too infrequently - be one of the
people telling their friends about this or you will end
up as one of the told! It's big, it's sad, it's that funny
feeling in the throat before you cry, when you don't know
if it's happy or sad! Don't take our word for it... but
do get yourself listening to this cd!
Drum
Media - CD of the Week 25.10.05
"Pugwash
named their last album Earworm. This one they could have
just as easily titled Earbliss. Settle back, turn up the
volume and lose yourself in some of the finest pop you could
ever want to hear."
Hot
Press - 19.10.05
"In
a parallel universe, Pugwash mainmain Thomas Walsh is a
living legend, regularly enjoying heavy radio rotation the
world over, massive record sales and as widely respected
as somebody like Ian Broudie, Neil Finn or Stephen Malkmus.I
doubt you'll hear a more perfect three minutes of finely-polished
tunesmithery anywhere else this year."
