Music filters to us from Sumeria...

the black guard

music filters to us from sumeria
the winged genii on electric guitars
the farmers with their bells and tambourines
the priests convene in the temples
the sound of an ancient synthesizers, the filters and sweeps
the beat of forgotten drums
infant jesus rockin' in josephs arms
phoenician sailors dancing on deck
all over the mediterranean you can tune in and pick up those songs
in lebanon the reverb still lingers
in the cedars the slight delay
in the early evening
coming home to you
accompanied by the singing women
across these thousands of years.

It was a cold winter - Sydney, 1996

Holed up in Karmic Hit studios Steve & Russell P. Kilbey were making music - soundtracks for the movies playing on the screens of their minds- the inner cinema. The results were both low key and grandiose - sweeping atmospheric instrumental music designed as a mysterious, prevailing purveyance, filled with ambiguous mood.

The finished album - Gilt Trip was released in a very limited run and has since become something of a collectors piece.

Now, to celebrate the creation of the new GIlt Trip album - Egyptian Register - the original Gilt Trip is once again available. The music is truly evocative, haunting and wonderful - Gilt Trip - the journey begins here!
